I will spare you the long story of how difficult it was to get my 2500 scr back into its slip with a remote that only worked when IT wanted to.
Anyway, I got a mechanic to to diagnose the problem and it looks like the remote needs to be replaced, which is good because I won't have to pay for a haulout and have the lower unit removed as first thought. Any advice where I should have this done and how much labor cost I should look for? I am on Lake WA.
Thanks all.

I put in a call to Olympic down here but they cant even look at it until after the 28th. I have been quoted $140 an hour! for labor. With the total cost of replacing the remote and throttle cables at 1600 bucks. Wow!

I found 75/hr on lake union. Now lets just hope I can grab forward gear and go. I am giving it a go tomorrow. Feel up for a "fun" boating experience let me know. I'm leavin the dock at noon, or at least going to drift around the marina until I hit something

Well the remote worked just fine long enough to get to the shop. On the way a new problem arose. As soon as I cleared the no wake area and i increased throttle to get up on plane my engine knocked like crazy!!!! Anything over 3000 rpms and the knocking was nuts! I throttled back, checked my pressures, shut er down looked at the fluids, tried to diagnose and went on my way slow enough to not cause the engine to knock. When I arrived at the marina I asked the mechanic if I could have gotten some bad gas since this has never happened and I just filled the tank. May be the culprit. he is going to test the fuel and let me know. He said it smelled kind of funky so may be the cause. He said he has had quite a few peopl with this problem. If indeed I got 60+ gallons of bad fuel I will definitely post the fuel dock where I fueled up. Until then....
