Hey everyon. New to the board.

I have a 95 SR 1750 (Maxum of course) and my son has talked me into adding a wakeboard tower. I must admit, they drastically change the appearence of the boat to a more modern looking one.

Anyway..... Where the mounting points are, the hull is typiclly pretty thin. I am using 1/2" x about 8" long x 5" wide pieces of plywood along with the supplied 1/4" aluminum plate and fender washers. It seems sturdy enough but I would like to get someone else's opinion of the install.

Thanks in advance,

That should work just fine.
It is the same way the boat builders mount cleats and other hardware to the hull. It's all about spreading the load to the hull.
BTW - it really does improve the look of your boat- More modern looking IMO!

Shouldnt you check with your local Maxum Dealer about this? LOL! If you arent gonna sell the boat soon, I recommend Glassing over the reinforcement. You will be happy you di, and thats how they do the boats with the factory towers.

Olympic Parts - you are right on. the backing reinforcements need glassing in.

on the rear legs they will be doing next to nothing, therefore spider cracking could occur. grab a fibreglass repair kit and do it one afternoon, will take very little time and you'll be glad you did!
