Hi everybody I'm looking at buying a 1995 maxum 3200 scr with 454 and bravo 2 and was wondering what this boat should top out at for speed? I test drove it the other day and only saw 34mph out of it on gps, i figured it would be around 40mph at least.

welcome to the zoo......from what I understand of that boat...it should top out at about 40 something.....however there's alot of things that will cause it NOT to reach that speed...condition of props.....state of tune....condition of hull.....have it surveyed before you plop your money down and that will give you more info and leverage....

Shag, I have a 94 3200 with the 7.4's and bravo twos. My top speed really varies on load(fuel, water and waste)!!!! I think in 96 maxum went with the dual prop set up. I think that helps in the whole range of speed. My top end is 40-42 with light loads. I typically cruise at 3400rpm 1/4 trim on both drives and some trim tab, speed per speedometer is 28-30. Feels perfect right there. I spend most of my time turning about 1200-1400rpm and enjoying the ride. But I am locked on a lake, about 25 miles is as far as I can go! One more thing, does this boat have a generator? More weight, mine has the genny.

If ya need any pics or have specific questions just ask!!

Are you certain the GPS was reading MPH and not KPH?

Thanks HavaMax this boat set up sound just like your with the genny. Some of the speed might be lost on the bottom, it's been sitting in it slip since july and hasn't been move at all and probably has bad gas in it from last year the owner didn't even use it this year.

With a bottom cleaning, a few tweaks, it should be up to speed. Be sure to get a full survey done......

What do you guys think the boat should do with SMALL blocks ( and YES , the genny also), I wish ours had the bravo3's, as they make a huge difference at all RPM'S. I've only seen about 23 mph at WOT of 4000 rpms,,,and I'm sure the bottom is loaded with dirt ,,,,this is my girlfriends boat,, not mine,,, and she hasnt run it much at all this year. thanks all!

clean the bottom off ..that means hauling out and power washing it....if it's crapped up..it isn't going to go far and fast at all..

i could not get my 2800scr over 26-32 on the gps and the wife and kids where flopping off the back with a single 7.4mpi bravo III.

so, i down loaded this SPEED app for my cell phone and check it against the garmin, and I was doing 40 MPH......

the boating book for dummies needed a chapter on NMP nautical miles per hours, opposed to MPH miles per hour.... or 1.4NPH = 1.MPH

changed setting and i really know what i'm doing now.....;)

Welcome to the website Shag................Greeting form Peoria. Are you going to be boating on the Illinois river? Are you north of Starved Rock?

Admiral and I with our 2001 3000SCR really enjoy ours out on the river. Didn't take the trip this year but going up to Starved Rock Marina for a three day weekend the past year was a great time.

Roger.

Hi Biggerseagar yep I'm on the Illinois river I belong to southshore boat club, we are just before Starved rock in Peru. I usually get down to Peoria at once a year if not more. Where do you slip your boat at in the summer? Here is a pic of the new boat in storage right now. 2161

Well,, our boat is out of the water,, i didnt get to see the bottom before it was cleaned,,, I'm sure the bottom was very crudded up from the bay, and i know the props were uglied up with barnacles,,, I'm thinking stainless props next summer, never really liked the aluminum ones,, way too much flex,, especially on a bigger boat like the 32. I have a friend with a prop service business looking for new props already. Hope to get some realistic speed numbers fresh in the spring, looking for around 35 mph atleast,,,,,(I hope ),,,

My 1995 3200 Scr got up to around 70 mph. But that was when it was on a trailer being hauled up here. LOL.
