b4 i put the boat back in on the sea with a new engine ,raw cooling .what kits are about to keep the engine in good shape.so when i come in i can flush out with not much fuss.thanks.

all you need is a muff for the outdrive ..fits on the leg intake holes and a hose....attach the muff to the outdrive and hose...start water flow...start engine and run for about 15 minutes after every run in salt water....this will help save the manifolds and engine components from salt corrosion....

I've been flushing mine every weekend to flush out the salt water. I only let her run for five minutes tops. Does it really need to be 15 minutes?

I'd say yes...5 min. will be ok if the thermostat is open all the way..but if your raw water cooled..you need to make sure the thermostat is open all the way and that usually takes 5 min. alone..then another 10 min. of rinsing the insides of the engine out.......but that's what my mech. told me to do...so..while I'm soaping the boat up ...I run the engine and let it get to temp..then run it awhile after the thermostat is fully open.....

thats how i been runing it out of water .but it will stay on my slip you see.
on the water for all summer now i hope. 8)

I can tell when the thermostat opens by placing my hand up near the back of the outdrive. Water remains tap cold until the thermostats open, at that point water becomes noticably warmer. Try it and you'll see.. on a warm day after returning from the ramp it usually takes 7 to 10 minutes.
