nice job...only problem I see is where it's located...I hate it when they put a VHF radio down at your knees...how the heck are you supposed to hear that thing when it's that low....

so...
do yourself a favor..unless the mike IS the speaker....get yourself the 49 dollar larger speaker from west marine or your local boat shop....believe me it makes a gigantic difference while underway...

oh yeah..I forgot you had that installed....really cool....

and you enjoy that 3300....very nice boat.....
as it turns out...we went to Roche Harbor last weekend and had a great time...unfortunately my vhf bit the big one.....was able to send..but not recieve...so...gotta get a new vhf....what a pain...

Very Timely Post. We spent last weekend on a sandy beach on Lake Powell in 60+mph winds.
We tried listening to the vhf weather channel, it was so distorted, it was hard to make out what was being said.
I think I'll be upgrading.

Time spent on Powell or most any place aboard your own boat is hardly ever wasted. We were in a secluded canyon but still had strong gusts.
Will be looking into a new radio.

Do you need a separate gps source for this radio to transmit your location?
If so, could it plug into a combo plotter/finder?
I just installed a humminbird 597ci hd di.

I contacted lake union searay and told them my radio took a dump....they aren't even questioning it...they are ordering a new one and will install it as soon as it comes in...which will be this week....next weekend we'll be at a local marina since it's our friday off....this weekend would have been perfect...but we had tons of yard work to do....so...house comes first and we'll get out next weekend...
we're getting rigged and ready to head out for the 4th of july ...9 days on the water in the san juan islands and canadian gulf islands......I think the admirable is pumped to go...all I gotta do is get all the honey do's done and the boat ready...and we're gone!!!..
