The service shop that is upgrading the engine from the 5.0 to the 5.7 appearantly has not done their homework when trying to tackle a task like this. They have stated that the new 5.7 is not recieving enough fuel, so they think that the fuel pump may need to be upgraded as well. However, when I look up fuel pumps for the 5.7 the description states that the same fuel pump works for the 5.0. Are there simple adjustments that need to me made to accomodate the 5.7 or do I really need to buy an upgraded fuel pump?

Has anyone upgraded from a 5.0 to a 5.7 and encountered similar issues?

I used to do alot of mods on sbc's and about the only thing that is different between a 5.0-5.7 is the bore/stroke/cam.....that's about it...everything else is the same...but...I have to ask.....are you using a carb'd or mpi unit....is the carb cluged off the old engine??...if so..the your under carbed and need to upgrade the carb....timing may be an issue also..if the advance isn't going all the way to 30 degs..then that will make it seem like it isn't getting enough fuel.....sitting in front of a laptop won't be an easy way to diagnose the problem....
if your fuel pump is a manual type...then it can only deliver about 18-20 psi to the carb...if it's mpi then you need substantially more fuel pressure....

hope this helps....
