If you find water in the lower unit oil, it is time to take it to a shop. Water in the gear oil indicates a leak that MUST be corrected. Left alone, your lower unit will be destroyed in short order.

the tail doesnt look damaged, just if it went to a lot of undeep waters over the bottom (with sand) the prop also look if it has turned through a lot of sand........is that oke????? nope water mixed with sand go's through your cooling system in your tail and motor........so try not to go through to much undeep water all the time......
one the pictures i see its a young motor so use good oils.....mine is 2009.....and i only use mercruiser products, so they cant say i used the wrong oils and lubes
greatz, ed

with the drive ..take the prop off and to a prop shop that is local too you..have them refresh the prop....they will pound out any dents or misshaped blades..balance it...and install a new hub...then repaint it...
for the drive it looks like an alpha 1 gen 2 drive...to me it looks like it was run thru some sand...hence the skeg having no paint....so.....the first thing you need to do is give it a little sanding with fine grit sand paper...then spray some chormate primer....sand some more..the some more primer....finally spray the mercruiser black paint onto the drive...and it will look like new....be sure to mask off anything you don't want painted....
and welcome to the zoo...

Do you have a Mercury manual? It will tell you what weight of oil to use per your climate. Some people use 30w or even 40w. Some people use 25w-40 or 10w-40. Whatever you use stick to it. The lower unit fluid will be a dark green. Buy only Merc brand! If you have mositure in the outdrive case it will come out a milky chocalate green. Buy a Clymer service manual for your year and all this info in is there. They are very helpful.......
