Yeah about the same here (lower Lake Michigan). Sucks even more when we come back from a weekend in Chicago. Last June it was over $4.00 per gallon in Burham Harbor before we came back home. Now its under that but I'm sure it will go up again. I monitor L-Michigan gas prices on this site so we pretty much know what we're getting into.

300 gal/ 10gal an hour x 17mph(cruise) = aprox 500 miles. But tides can really cut into that number a bit
BTW Boat Unit = $1000. Thats what you tell the admiral it costs. "It was only 3 Boat Units dear" Tends to soften the blow a bit

Yes. I have the 260hp, 5.0l MPI motor. It's awesome. Tops out at 55mph. Has a 50 gallon gas tank which for the Puget Sound, means I can go pretty much anywhere on a tank of gas or less. But boy do I hate filling up at the pumps at $3 a gallon.

If I'm on a lake doing water sports, I'll typically get a 3-day weekend out of a tank of fuel. If I'm out fishing in saltwater, it depends on the weather and wave conditions. A typical fishing trip is 20-30 nm. I get about 150 miles out of a tank. I actually calculated the real milage last season on it going between Everett, WA, and LaConner, WA (approximately 40 miles). The sea state was flat and I was doing cruising speed the entire way (35mph). I saw 3.6mpg.
Being that there aren't a lot of fuel stations on the water, it is really nice to have the bigger tank. Though it's also nice to have a trailerable boat that I can haul up to Chevron because gas at the dock is way more expensive!

Just worked out the equivalent dollar cost for a US sized gallon here in the UK......$7.20 per US Gallon ! ...and that is after we have had to pay $38,000 for a 1800 SR3 ! If you've got room for one more in your country I'll be packing my bags and coming to live there :-)
Still can't wait to get back out on the water this year

Just smile .... it costs me the equivalent of $7.35 a gallon here in the UK, so you can have at least a doubling of your price before it becomes expensive.

it finally dropped below 3 bucks this weekend...went to fill the wifes pathfinder up and found at the street pumps 2.99....of course I think that the news is making too big a deal out of gas prices....after all...the oil companies need to make something like a trillion dollars each yr to offset what we waste in our big trucks...right??.... :?

Enjoy the 'reprieve'. Over here in 'Spokaloo' its still $3.19 avg. Thank you for letting have the higher transport expense and for funding your clogged freeways. :D
I need to get an hour meter to accurately measure consumption (and not beer).
So far I measure consumption based on the amount of fun we have, regardless of price!
