Changed props last week, because I had spun the last one. It was a 14.5X17 and topped out at about 4400 RPM. The new one is a 15X17 and it runs up to almost 4900 RPM and the boat is much slower. This is 24 ft maxum with a 350 and alpha one drive. Do I need to get a 15X19? And why is there so much difference?

something is definitely wrong here..they are both the same pitch but slightly larger..that should have given you more power and if anything lowered your top end...I'd think it was stamped wrong..you should take it back and try a different prop...who makes it?...
.and why by a new prop if you spun the hub..just get a new hub and have it installed by a prop shop...

I replace the prop becuse it had a couple of dings and it wasn't that much more to get the new prop(Vortex 3 Blade Aluminum Propellers) with hub kit.

ah....well.....then I'd get the prop checked.....it seems that it's either marked wrong or something is wrong....you should not have the rpms going higher.....there is a couple of things I guess....take the prop to a prop shop and have it checked ...they can tell what pitch the blades are........also...what I did when I dinged up my al. prop...was took it to a prop shop...had it reconditioned for under a hundred and a new hub and keep it as a spare.....comes in handy if your out and nail a rock or seomthing...

Took the old prop to Tacoma propeller and it is a
14 1/2 X 17 but it is cupped. Making it more like a 19" pitch. The Vortex 15 X 17 is not cupped and is really closer to a 15X16. Tacoma propeller is going to cup my prop at no charge. This should fix the problem.

Removed the prop this morning and had it cupped by Tacoma Propeller while I waited. Had the new prop back on and on the water in less than an hour. The boat ran great. Great speed, got on plane right away. Thanks to everyone for your advice.
