lights on the swim platform? They look good and I want to do the same on my 2400 SCR.

I live in everett wa. and there is a boat store close by that is called harbor marine...they have them there for about 12bucks each...it was a simple add on and really lights up the swim step.....since they draw so little load..I tapped off the existing cockpit lights...... :D

ok cool thanks! ill head down to westmarine here in town and see if they have any. was thinking of taping them into the existing lights in the cockpit area also. good to know that will be fine.

was also thinking about puting some back toward the transom under water to light the water up at night if we go swimming. could be cool.

I didn't see any of this style at WM....this place I go too was the only one I found with this style of lights...
as for swim step lights...not sure if these will work underwater...but they are completely sealed up.....so...maybe it might work..may have to run to HM to check them out again.....let us know what you come up with... :D

I think mine are about an inch dia...but the depth was closer to 2 inches since you have about 1 inch of fiberglass back there....I used about a 5/8 in drill bit and then used a round file to auger the hole out.....took a little doing but once I got it to just barely fit..I figured the rubber seal would work....let me see if I can find the name and model number of that light I have...it's all plastic and really does light up the step...

ok...called up harbor marine...they are the distributor for these lights here in everett...so you may have to find someone in your area....

these are the coolest lights I've found and really work well at nite..they might fit the bill for boarding ladder too..might wanna check them out....

got my LED's in yesterday! woo hoo! how did you attach them to the boat? didn't come with any screws or anything to hold them in. ideas? do you remember what size hole saw you used? thanks again :D

well..if you got the same units I did...you drill a (and I'm thinking here) a 5/8" hole..then I used a round rat file to open it up a bit more to fit the shank..it's got a huge plastic nut that you use to tighten it up....as for hooking it up to the lights..I added a pig tail to lengthen the electrical leads and then used a blue crimp splice to tap into the existing cockpit lights.....make sure you know pos/neg....it won't light if the leads are reversed......so far so good..they really look good as you can see...

i gave them the exact part number above. they have a white lens, black housing with three red LED's in them. i didn't see anything that screws to it. basically has the lens that protrudes from a black housing filled with clear silicon and a red + / blk - wires coming out from the back. maybe im overlooking something but it seems like a one piece unit.

was hoping for the white lights not red. if i can't secure them properly then I'll have to send them back.

here in NW Indiana. our marina is 32 naut miles east of Chicago. Michigan City IN is where she docks.

just called the marina and the light manuf directly on how to install them. guess the tabs or "wings" hold them in from the back side. honestly dont think thats going to work cause of how thick the wall of the swim platform is. these are not the same as you have i know that for sure. one they are red LED's and two there is no nut to secure them from the backside. probably going to have to send them back and hope they give me a credit.

I don't think it's the same one that I have...I'll have to run down there...I think the guy at the parts place gave me the wrong number....I coulda sworn that I gave him a really really good description of the parts....I'll go down and check them out myself.....geez....nope...mine has a nut on the back that tightens down to seal the light....

so.those won't work on the swim step....send em back...I'll personally go to the place and get the number for you.....sorry bout this mix up..... :oops:

I'll let you know in a day or so about the part numbers to order.... :shock:

I also went online to west marine and came up with something similar to what I got..they call them live well lights but I don't remember them saying anything like that...but it looks similar to these...
