Hi,
I'm about to order a 3100SY from my local dealer, only problem is that I think a cockpit fridge would be more useful than the ice maker, but apparently there's no option for a fridge any more. (yeah..big problem I know !)
None of the local Maxum's have an ice maker fitted, so does anyone here have any comments re the Maxum Ice Makers, along the lines of reliability / power consumption / capacity / How quick are they etc ?
Are they big enough for me to put, say, a 6-pack of beers in to chill ?
Thanks,
Wayne R.

well...I've always heard that those fridges are great.....unfortunatley I haven't had any experience with them.....there are alot of boats with them so I'm assuming they are 12vdc/120vac and will cool the beer just fine!!....so..if your worried about them...I wouldn't....good luck with the new boat!!.... :D

Your going to love that Ice Maker- Keeps you from having to haul ice back to the boat when your cursing or docked for more then a couple of days.
Just got one for our 33', makes up to 30lbs a day. Keeps the cooler topped off and fresh ice for the cocktails!

Thanks Ken,
That sounds great !
I haven't seen one of these as yet .. how big would the ice holding area be ? Is there some kind of switch that turns the maker off when the ice bin is full ?
Thanks,

There are ton of different sizes out there. My bin is about 1' X 1.5'. The bin holds about 5 lbs of ice and I just dump it in the cooler and let it keep on making ice.
You can turn it off or it will stop making ice if the bin is full.
I let it run while under way and when we are hook up to shore power. It starts to make ice in about 10 min.

Go for the ice maker. It's another bag you don't have to haul and/or stop you don't have to make. You can always cool the beers in the extra ice.
