Hey guys,
I am having trouble with my trailer switch. I recently bought a 1999 3000 SCR. The out drives will trim up but I can't get the trailer switch to work. How do I go about telling if the switch is bad or there is another problem?

most of the time it's one of the relays....down on the pump....you will have to have an volt/ohm meter to check the pwr and have someone operate the switch....if your getting pwr to the relay...and nothing is happening..then the relay is bad.....

If it will trim up on the trim up switch its not the relay it must be the trailer switch itself

If you trim all the way down and press the trailer switch it should go up if it doesn't its the switch itself

It should if its working properly, trim up all the way on the trailer switch from any position and the trim up switch should trim up and stop when the distance from the fixing point of the ram to where the ram goes in to the cylinder gets to around 6 1/2"

Thanks for your help is there a way to test if it's the switch before I by one. I have an ohm tester. What do I set it to. I am used to electrical work on homes not on boats so any help is great. Thanks!

if you can get to the back of it just link it out if it works its the switch, it may just want a clean out if it comes to pieces
