View Full Version : Engine mouts
Hi everyone, Ive seen that my engine mounts are pretty rotten. The rubber that surrounds the bolt is completly gone leaving just the threaded bolt showing. Im guessing this is a fairly big deal? If so how big and how much damage would could it do if used like that?
Also easy/hard to replace and expensive?

they are fairly easy to replace them...just need to get an engine hoist or something to lift the engine up about an inch or so...then pull like 4 bolts and it's free...then replace them...
do one side first and then the other...the only hard part is squeezing yourself into the side of the engine while it's up...another way is to pull the drive out..lift the engine completely out..then that will allow you to clean the bilge and route wires and stuff cleaner....

Thanks SP,
If I cant do this asap what damage will it cause if I still use the boat?
Also I can see the 2 at the front of the engine im guessing there are 2 at the back also!?

probably only 2 that are mounted mid engine..the back is supported by the bellhousing/coupler and outdrive...as for damage..bout the only thing that it does is reduce vibration too the hull and stringers...I'd look into getting new engine resmounts as soon as possible but to run it once or twice won't hurt....you'll be surprised at how much smoother and quieter the engine is once you replace them with resmounts...
